Description: The Mind and the Brain, co-written by psychiatrist Jeffrey M. Schwartz and Wall Street Journal writer Sharon Begley, looks at the question of the relation between the brain and the mind drawing on Schwartz's many years studying functional neuro-anatomy and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Particularly, the authors focus on the mental phenomena of will and attention. Issues concerning attention, the will, and consciousness are discussed in relation to quantum physics and Buddhist mindfulness meditation.
