</p><h3 class="heading-h1"><a name="ConvertingVCRRecords" class="anchorpoint"></a>Converting VCR Records</h3><p class="paragraph"><strong class="bold">Contributor(s)</strong>: THL Staff</p><p class="paragraph">First you must download the Narthang bibliographic converter: <span class="nobr"><img src="/" alt="external link: " title="external link"/><a href="https://collab.itc.virginia.edu/access/content/group/2e155cca-1f2b-4671-0023-af3727982d03/Cataloging%20Resources/BiblConverter.zip" target="rwikiexternal"> BiblConverter</a></span></p><p class="paragraph">The process of converting VCR records is identical to that of the TCR records except for one fine detail: when using the Convert Catalog Records macro on the CatalogProcessing document, specify Your Initials: as "perXXXX", where XXXX is your THL ID number and the Edition sigla: as "N" (if it is Narthang) just as before, but now for the Choose XML form:, select "kt_vol_form". Everything else is the same:</p><ol><li>Place the original word docs in the docs folder after removing the blank doc.</li>
<li>Open CatalogProcessing.doc</li>
<li>From the Catalog Conversion menu choose "Convert Catalog Records"</li>
<li>Enter your THL ID as "perXXXX", where XXXX is your THL ID number and then Edition Sigla</li>
<li>The different part is that you choose a different template in the drop down list. Choose: kt_vol_form</li>
<li>Once the XML files have been created, open them, make sure all of the Tibetan converted correctly, and clean up the notes according to the directions detailed below</li></ol><p class="paragraph">
</p><h3 class="heading-h2"><a name="NotesonNotes" class="anchorpoint"></a>Notes on Notes</h3><p class="paragraph">In a typical VCR file, many of these notes occur after conversion to XML. In <strong class="bold">bold</strong> is how to insert them into the document:</p><p class="paragraph">Try to use the <note> tag whenever it is possible. There are some areas, however, where the note tag is not allowed. In these cases, use the <s> (sentence) tag and make sure to give the data a value as well (e.g. using a <num> tag). In the case of the <note> tag, use the resp="" function with the THL ID number to specify the author of the note and in the <s> tag use n="" to specify the author. If you don't know the THL ID number, just use initials.</p><p class="paragraph"><!-- NOTES</p><p class="paragraph">pagination note:
