THL Toolbox > Tibetan Texts > Cataloging a Tibetan Text
Contributor(s): THL Staff.
One of the important aspects of THL markup technology is the ability to catalog Tibetan texts in a deep way that collects information concerning several important aspects of the text. Creating an XML catalog of a Tibetan collection of texts such as Collected Works (gsung 'bum) or a canonical collection such as the Collected Tantras of the Ancients (rnying ma rgyud 'bum) has been made easier by the use of a three-step process in which the catalog entries are originally made in a Microsoft Word using a specific form available from THL, converted into XML through a special Word macro written in Visual Basic, and then creating a catalog document linking to the individual records. All the files are then posted to the web and display using XSLT stylesheets. This document briefly describes this process, and it assumes that one is cataloging a multi-volume collection of individual texts.
