Using Tibetan in Windows
Unicode Tibetan is fully supported within Windows Vista - a font, keyboard, and systems support is provided out of the box. Earlier versions of Windows did not provide Unicode Tibetan support, but Windows 2000 & and Windows XP can be modified easily to provide partial support:
- A New Chapter in Tibetan Computing, or: an introduction to Tibetan Unicode and its use in Microsoft Vista (also see the Tibetan language version)
- Tibetan Unicode in Windows VISTA
- Updating Uniscribe for Tibetan in Windows 2000 & XP
- Updating Uniscribe for Tibetan in Windows 2000 & XP - in Chinese

- Problems with Tibetan in Windows
However, even with Vista, you might desire to use a different font for aesthetic purposes, or you might prefer an input system not provided by Microsoft. In addition, you have to determine if a given software program supports Unicode Tibetan, since not all programs support it just because the operating system supports it. Finally, you may have files using non-Unicode Tibetan fonts and want them to convert them to Unicode. Thus consult these general pages for further information:
