The monastery occupies a 1/3 square kilometer area (about the size of a large university campus in the US). It is divided into two approximately equal halves by a boulevard called the Jezhung (<em class="italic">bye gzhung</em>) or “sand street.”</p><div class="resource-link"><p class="paragraph">
